Jennifer L. King, Esq.

Founder, Law Office of Jennifer L. King, PC

Jennifer L. King is a Bay Area native with deep roots in the community she serves. She earned her B.A. in Psychology with departmental honors from the University of California, Berkeley, before graduating cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Jennifer’s commitment to family law is both professional and personal. As a young woman, she was deeply affected when her best friend was convicted in connection with the killing of her aunt’s abusive partner. Witnessing the devastating impact of family violence on everyone involved — and how the justice system responded — inspired Jennifer to become a lawyer. This experience, combined with her background in psychology, shaped the perspective she brings to every case: family law is never just about statutes, but about human lives.

In law school, Jennifer gained hands-on experience at the University of Illinois Domestic Violence Clinic and the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Clinic, reinforcing her dedication to advocating for families in crisis.

Today, Jennifer is known for her candid, straightforward style: supportive when settlement is possible, fierce when litigation is necessary. She has represented clients in all aspects of family law — including divorce, custody, support, domestic violence, and complex property division — and is also appointed by the court to serve as minor’s counsel, giving children an independent voice in custody disputes.

Jennifer has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2018–2022) and received the Avvo Client’s Choice Award (2020, 2022). She is an active member of the Contra Costa County and Alameda County Bar Associations.

Outside the courtroom, Jennifer is passionate about mentorship and attorney wellness. She is also an avid scuba diver and traveler, and enjoys Pilates and time with her family. She believes balance, curiosity, and a sense of humor are as essential in life as they are in law.
